On 24th February we, at Protect our NHS, e mailed the Bristol / South West offices of all the major political parties making it clear that we were a politically unaligned local campaigning organisation, and saying that: “We have noted, with concern, the downgrading of the post of Director of Public Health in Bristol and the resignation of key personnel. In the light of this we would be very grateful if you would send us your current policy documents on the management of health and social care in Bristol.”
The Green Party responded immediately pointing us to their web site. Labour responded with a detailed critique of the Bristol public health issue. Both are published on this site and are well worth considering. https://protectournhs.wordpress.com/2014/03/03/think-locally-act-locally-political-parties-and-their-commitment-to-public-health/
But to date, we have had no reply from the Tories, the LibDems or UKIP – not even an acknowledgment of the our e mail. What does this say about their commitment to public health? What does it say about their commitment to the NHS? Or maybe they think that ignoring a request for a clarification on an important policy issue for 17 days is acceptable.
If they reply, we’ll let you know, but don’t hold your breath.
