Very sad to hear of Rick Mayall’s untimely death, but it made me look back at his wonderful portrayal of a Tory MP in the ’80s. How well Alan B’Stard would fit on to the coalition benches today. Who would have thought that such OTT suggestions as penalising the poor for having no money and pushing for a health service which only the rich can afford, would have become reality in 21st century England.
