The Easy Things We Can Do To Protect OUR NHS

July 13, 2014 by Protect Our NHS

We have until May 2015 to save the NHS for our children and grandchildren. Please join the fight to save it now.

“THE NHS has provided what no other country in the world has achieved at the same cost — universal healthcare in the form of equal access to comprehensive care, irrespective of personal income.”

So wrote Allyson Pollock, Professor of Public Health Research and Policy, and David Price, Research Fellow in Public Health, in A Duty to Care, May 2013.

Put one of our postcards, leaflets or posters in your front window; talk to your neighbours and friends – say NO to the Privatisation of the NHS (
Read NHS SOS edited by Jacky Davis & Raymond Tallis, published 2013 by Oneworld
Opt out of your medical records being sent to by informing your GP accordingly (see
Tell your MP & councillors that you want the 2012 Health and Social Care Act repealed, the legal duty of the Secretary of State for Health to provide a National Health Service reinstated & public services exempted from the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership
Email or phone 07891 432224 or 07841 238588 so we can keep you informed of our activities, so you can get involved
Contact your GP practice to ask find out what arrangements exist for consulting you as a patient & member of the public about the way health services are provided or email your Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) – in Bristol email
Tell your CCG in person in its public forum that (a) you oppose the competitive market being imposed on health services (b) you oppose for-profit companies providing health services and (c) you want to be fully consulted about how, where, and when health services are being tendered (phone us on 07881 532845 to find out when the next CCG meeting is)

ideas like a £10 a month fee to use the NHS, a rebate for being healthy or paying to visit your GP. They are all mechanisms to soften us up for an insurance-based health service model (so tell your GP this too)
Undertake your own research about what’s going on; e.g. look at:,, and Watch Professor Allyson Pollock at

Never, and we repeat … never trust a politician who has any kind of vested interest in private health to save the NHS. Ask them if they have private health insurance and, if so, why. Only vote for a party which fully supports a publicly accountable, not for-profit NHS
Help us financially, please, to produce leaflets, banners, buy materials for creative demonstrations, hire rooms/venues, organise coaches, and video productions. Contact us on 07841 238588 for more information and about donating to Protect Our NHS
Sign our petitions and help out on our stalls to get others to sign them. For information about stalls, contact 07764 614621. Last but not least Support the August / September March for the NHS – see

    • Hello Reg

Am just back from an overseas trip so sorry not to have replied before now. Not to tax haven I hasten to add. You’ll see Sirona have now got their hands on the one-year interim Children’s Community Health Services contract (along with BCH and AWP). We are now monitoring the commissioning process for the long-term contract.
