Tried to get a GP Appointment Recently?

March 2, 2015 by Protect Our NHS

Tonight: 7.30pm BBC1, a BBC investigation uncovers a national shortage of GPs, doctors deserting the profession and junior doctors avoiding what they see as an “unglamorous” career.

All these have culminated in the number of unfilled GP posts quadrupling in the past three years, which may help explain why your surgery’s phone number is often engaged.

I am registered with Falloden Way health centre and they are absolutely marvellous. One phone call can give you a next day appointment, a hiccup with a prescription gets you a call back within an hour.

And yes I shall be marching on 14 th march, in memory of my parents Joe and Marjorie Sluglett, who came to Bristol from Delabole in Cornwall in 1947, just after I was born, in order to have a town base to fight for the NHS. My father worked with Drs Barry Williams, Henry Howard and Tony Everett in South Bristol and together with Dr. Harry Finzel and Dr Brian Gibson, they covered most of South Bristol. My father was awarded an OBE for his services to medicine, health centres, obstetrics and GP training in conjunction with Bristol University, along with his MD awarded for his work on developing all-encompassing services in health centres.
